Howdy, friends and neighbors!

It's after 4 AM here on Monday morning. The sky is already getting light in the east and I'm about due for a nap but wanted to touch base with you first. I apologize once again for my brevity here lately but it can't be helped. There are only so many days per month at home and only so many hours in a day and I can't get enough done no matter how many of 'em I fill with work. So...instead of trying ever harder to send myself to a hospital or an untimely demise I have decided to (a) prioritize more ruthlessly and (b) just stop trying so hard. Sensible, no? I thought you'd agree.

There's a blues festival here on August 2 - Blues on the Chippewa - and I finally got a basic web site up for it a few minutes ago. I won't go into details here on BCB News just yet but you can get the gist of it by clicking here. More details will be forthcoming as the event approaches. If I get time.

I agreed to allow the studio to be used for artist hospitality at the blues fest and have exactly four days to work on the place between now and then. There is so much to do to make the place usable by humans that I'm on the verge of giving up. I feel like it. I might.

I won't, of course.

Enough of my whinging. The BCB had a great time on the road last week, first at Pete's in West Fargo and then in Clearbrook, Minnesota for the weekend. I used to spend a lot of time in Fargo town and was delighted to see some old friends there. We had a few who road tripped in for the show, too. Major thanks to Linda and crew for coming to visit and for the brownies and cookies - and to Lily for the cocktails. :) LLF, it was good to see you, too...Tammy got a lesson in driving an 18-wheeler from our buddy Limo Mike, and on the way out of town we dropped in on Roosters front man Rick Adams for a good cup of coffee and a friendly chat.

Summerfest in Clearbrook was a blast. You guys and girls know how to throw a party and we thank you all for the fun. Rumor has it that some of you may come to Breezy Point and I hope it's true, we'd love to see you there.

This week we're at Bullshooters on Wednesday for a pre-Hodag party, then it's back to Theilman, MN for a street dance on Thursday, up to LCO Casino in Hayward, WI for Friday and Saturday, and on to Tammy's hometown of Phillips, WI for a Sunday afternoon show at the Harbor View.

I need a nap. Have a safe and happy Fourth and we'll see you down the road.

Richie - 06.30.08
